Moulton School SEN Information Report 2025-26
Introduction
At Moulton School, we are committed to providing an inclusive education that enables every pupil to achieve their full potential. We recognise and respond to the diverse needs of our pupils, with 27.5% identified as having Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our SEN provision supports pupils to access a broad and balanced curriculum alongside their peers.
1. The kinds of SEN provided for
We support pupils with a range of needs including:
- Communication and Interaction
- Cognition and Learning
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Sensory and/or Physical needs
2. Identification and Assessment of SEN
Our SENCO, Mrs Sue Bell, leads the identification and assessment of pupils with SEND. We use a combination of teacher observations, assessments, and advice from external specialists to identify needs early and accurately. Progress is regularly monitored and reviewed, adapting support as necessary.
3. SEN Support and Provision
- Targeted interventions, personalised teaching approaches and additional support such as ELSA are used to meet individual needs.
- The curriculum is adapted to ensure accessibility, with adapted tasks, visual supports and assistive technology.
- The effectiveness of SEN provision is regularly evaluated through progress reviews involving teachers, SENCO, parents and pupils.
- Pupils with SEND are supported to engage fully in all school activities alongside their peers.
4. Involvement of Parents and Pupils
We believe in strong partnerships with parents and pupils. Parents are invited to at least three meetings per year to discuss progress, set clear outcomes and plan next steps. Pupils are encouraged to participate in discussions about their learning and aspirations.
5. Transition Support
We provide tailored support for pupils transitioning between phases of education, including liaison with secondary schools and external agencies to ensure smooth transitions.
6. Staff Expertise and Training
Our staff receive ongoing professional development in SEND, including training on adaptive teaching, behaviour management, and specific needs such as autism and speech and language support. Mrs Bell coordinates specialist input.
7. Emotional and Social Development
We offer pastoral support including ELSA, anti-bullying measures and opportunities for pupils to develop emotional resilience and social skills.
8. Collaboration with External Agencies
We work closely with health, social care, and voluntary organisations to provide comprehensive support for pupils and families.
9. Complaints
Parents with concerns about SEN provision can contact Mrs Sue Bell (SENCO) or Miss Jane Birch (Headteacher) to discuss and resolve issues. Formal complaints follow the school’s complaints procedure.
10. Accessibility and Publication
This SEN Information Report is published on the Moulton School website and updated annually or as changes occur. It is written in clear, accessible language and includes contact details for the SENCO and links to the Local Authority’s Local Offer.
